WEN Wales would like to make you aware of an opportunity to volunteer with an inspirational welsh women’s organisation.

EMWWAA (Ethnic Minority Welsh Women Achievement Association) formerly known as WAWAA is a charitable organisation which aims to create a network of women and girls of ethnic minority origin across Wales to provide beacons of inspiration for current and upcoming generations.

 This role would suit someone who has an interest in equality and diversity and helping to develop women’s organisations. The volunteer will gain valuable experience in project management, events organisation and communications.

 Mission

  • EMWWAA aims to empower and inspire women and girls from ethnic minorities in Wales.

  • It promotes and applauds their success in all aspects of Welsh life and identifies role-models in the communities.

  • It aims to facilitate community cohesion and integration.

Role Description 

The volunteer role will involve some of the following activities:

  • Working with the EMMWAA Director to understand the aims and needs of the organisation and the opportunities for EMMWAA to develop;

  • Organise local community events with support from the Director;

  • Write copy for use with flyers, posters, mail outs etc.;

  • Write copy for our website e.g. news stories, information etc.;

  • Develop social media pages (Facebook and Twitter) to increase awareness of EMMWAA;

  • Develop Mail chimp and produce a series of emails targeted at various audiences e.g. potential sponsors, general public, community groups.

 Person Specification 

  • Strong commitment to equality

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Good organisational and time management skills

  • Good IT skills

  • Knowledge and experience of using social media platforms (twitter, Facebook)

Desirable

Experience of using Mailchimp (training can be provided)

Commitment

 The volunteer will be asked to commit to one day a week for 3 to 6 months.

 Location 

The volunteer will be based at the Chwarae Teg office at Anchor Court on Keen Road in Cardiff
